What is the difference between skip tracing and people search?

Skip tracing is an investigative process used to locate individuals who have intentionally or unintentionally become difficult to find, often for legal, debt collection, or bounty hunting purposes.

People search is a broader, more general data retrieval method that provides contact information for any individual, typically used for reconnecting with acquaintances or basic background checks without the investigative depth of a skip trace.

While skip tracing relies on piecing together fragmented data to find a specific target’s current whereabouts, people search offers a straightforward lookup of available public records for anyone.
